Computer Literacy
CIS 1020
I took CIS 1020 Computer Essentials course to fulfill my Computer Literacy General Education requirement. For this course I am posting 3 assignments (found on the bottom of the page); a Word Projects Document, an Excel Projects File, and a PowerPoint Projects File.
When I first started this class I felt that perhaps I would learn a new trick or two in handling Microsoft documents but that overall it would be a fairly basic and unrewarding class. Thank goodness I was wrong. I learned many new things about working with Word, Excel, and Powerpoint.
With Word I learned the power of my Home Tab and other Tabs. I finally learned the use for each one and what they could do for me. I learned how to make my document more organized and aesthetically presentable.
I also learned how to work with Excel. Not only did I learn to properly navigate Excel, I learned how to find and assign functions to work for me which I feel is the biggest advantage of Excel. I especially love learning Excel because it had the biggest impact on my professional life at my current job. My Manager was especially impressed with the new worksheets I was able to come up with for numerous situations.
Powerpoint is also something we learned to navigate and appropriately use. I learned that Powerpoint is a powerful program that takes elements of both Word and Excel and optimizes all three programs in a clear and presentable manner. I haven't used it outside of class yet, but I am already imagining several potential areas that I could.
